Providing a Healthy and Safe Place for Marriage Matchmaking

IBJ Marriage & Life Design Support Company

Basic Approach

There are many social issues that need to be resolved in Japan, but the most serious and important challenge is the decrease in the working-age population—in other words, the declining birthrate. We established IBJ in 2006 with a mission to solve the birthrate problem through a marriage-hunting business.
We provide robust support with a focus on marriages (engagements) rather than simply providing opportunities to start relationships (matching).
This approach has brought us continual steady growth. We run the Japan Marriage Consulting Federation, and all the affiliates in this federation carry out marriage-hunting services by collecting and utilizing personal information.
Owing to the special nature of this business, we and all the affiliates in our federation are strictly required to maintain reliability by acting in compliance with laws and regulations, as well as by working to raise ethical awareness among employees.
To achieve healthy growth in our marriage-hunting services, we understand that it is vital for us to boost the quality of our services while also maintaining reliability as a business.
As such, we worked at an early stage to establish our terms of service and to gain PrivacyMark qualification, among other proactive measures. As a leading company in the marriage-hunting industry, we will continue to lead efforts for raising the level of compliance and ethics across the board. We will strive to provide our customers with a healthy and safe place for marriage-hunting as a corporate group that everyone can place their trust in.

Maintaining the Safety and Soundness of Services (Quality Control)

Basic Policy

The Company provides marriage matchmaking services to help men and women serious about their future find their match. We believe it is important to pursue service quality to maximize the chance of encounters (to improve customer satisfaction) and to provide a safe and secure environment for our customers to engage in marriage matchmaking for a happy marriage.
As such, we conduct strict background checks, requiring identification with an insurance card or driver’s license when registering for the marriage matchmaking app or attending a marriage matchmaking party, and submission of a certificate that proves a person is single and proof of annual income in addition to the above identification when enrolling in our marriage consultation service.
In addition, our terms and conditions of use stipulate various prohibited acts to prevent intellectual property rights and privacy infringement, posting of lewd material, slander and libel, commercial use, and other use considered criminal, and we take various measures, including user support and monitoring systems to ensure that use is in accordance with these terms and conditions.
